Last Call Doc & Discussion is a unique event you don’t want to miss. We will be showing Chapter 1, ‘In the Realm of Death and Dreaming’ followed by a discussion led by moderator Julie Strassman. This event aims to facilitate open conversations about end-of-life matters and provide valuable insights into the process of saying goodbye.

Director Johanna Lunn guides viewers on a personal journey to find answers by exploring stories of near-death experiences, deathbed visions, and more. She speaks with leading clinicians and researchers who have spent their careers studying these experiences and the nature of consciousness. Their stories are revealed with humor and compassion, just the way Last Call likes.

Exploring what happens after death not only helps us decide how we want to be cared for at the end-of-life, but it reduces our fear of death and helps us to live more fully.

We are very excited to have Julie Strassman lead the discussion after the screening of the film. Julie Strassman is a Spiritual Counselor and Bereavement Specialist with Bethesda Hospice Care. She received her Doctorate of Ministry in 2022 and wrote her doctoral dissertation on providing spiritual care to the bereaved in response to sensory experiences of continued presence (i.e., seeing, hearing, or sensing the presence of deceased loved ones). Julie has presented at numerous regional and statewide conferences and is passionate about helping hospice professionals and loved ones provide meaningful end-of-life care.

My hope is that people walk away from this film asking themselves, “What do I think about all this? What do I
want when I die?” My goal is not to tell people how or what to think, but to encourage the dialog, the
questions, and even, perhaps, some answers.
